This policy explains what personal data we collect across Dream Inc. and its brands, including HelpBnk, DreamBrew and Simon Squibb, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it.

01Who we are

02What this policy covers

This policy applies whenever you interact with us, including our websites, forms, communities, products, services, events, newsletters and social channels. It covers the brands we operate, including HelpBnk, DreamBrew and Simon Squibb, and affiliated projects we launch in future.

It does not cover third party sites we link to. If you follow a link away from one of our sites, that site’s own policy applies and we have no control over it.

03What we collect

Information you give us

You give us personal data when you fill in one of our forms or sign up to something. Depending on what you are doing, that can include:

  • Newsletter sign-up: your name and email address.
  • Speaking, media and partnership enquiries: your name, email address, phone number, company or organisation, and anything you write in the message, such as event dates, audience and budget.
  • Accounts, applications and community profiles: the details you provide when you join or apply to one of our products or programmes, and anything you post or submit through it.
  • Competitions and prize draws: your name, email address, and where the rules require it, proof of purchase such as an order number, barcode or receipt. Please do not send us card or banking details.
  • Anything else you choose to send us: including by email, if you contact us directly.

Please only give us personal data about other people if you have their permission.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit one of our sites or open one of our emails, we and our providers collect limited technical and interaction information, including your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location based on IP address, the pages you view, how you arrived, how long you stay, and which emails you open and click. Most of this comes from cookies and similar technologies, described in section 5.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for special category data such as health, religious belief or political opinion. We do not buy personal data from data brokers.

04How we use it and why we are allowed to

Under UK data protection law we need a lawful basis for using your personal data. Ours are set out below.

What we doWhyLawful basis
Reply to your enquiry To answer speaking, media and partnership requests and follow up on them Legitimate interests: we cannot respond to an enquiry without using the details in it
Send the newsletter To send you the updates you asked for Consent, which you can withdraw at any time
Run competitions and prize draws To administer entries, verify eligibility, select and contact winners, and meet advertising rules Performance of the entry terms you agreed to, and legal obligation where a regulator asks for winner details
Market our brands to you To tell you about products, services, events and offers across Dream Inc. and its brands, including HelpBnk, DreamBrew and Simon Squibb, and to make what we send more relevant by grouping audiences by interest Consent where you opted in, and legitimate interests in promoting our own related brands to existing contacts. You can opt out at any time
Measure and improve our sites To understand which pages are useful and fix what is not working Consent for non-essential cookies, legitimate interests for basic aggregate analysis
Keep the site secure To prevent spam, fraud and abuse of our forms Legitimate interests in protecting the site and the people who use it
Meet our legal duties To keep records we are required to keep and respond to lawful requests Legal obligation

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest is outweighed by your rights and freedoms. You can object to this use at any time using the contact details in section 13.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

05Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them in three ways:

  • Strictly necessary: these make the site work, remember your cookie choices and protect our forms from abuse. They cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics: these tell us which pages are visited and how people move through the site, so we can improve it. Set only with your consent.
  • Marketing: these help us understand which campaigns bring people to the site and avoid showing you the same message twice. Set only with your consent.

Our sites use HubSpot, which sets cookies for site functionality, form submission and analytics. Pages with an embedded video use YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode, which means YouTube sets cookies only once you click play, not when the page loads.

You can change your choices at any time through the cookie banner, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of our sites working.

06Who we share it with

We share personal data only where we need to, and only with organisations that are required to protect it:

  • HubSpot, which hosts our websites and holds our CRM, form submissions and marketing email.
  • Google, for YouTube video embeds and website analytics.
  • Our own brands and teams. Because we operate several brands, your information may be shared internally between them, our systems and our service providers, to provide products and services, personalise communications, manage subscriptions and accounts, provide support, and send marketing where you have consented. This includes HelpBnk, DreamBrew, Simon Squibb and affiliated projects we operate.
  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers, accountants and insurers, where they need it to advise us.
  • Regulators, courts and law enforcement, where we are legally required to provide it, including making winner details available to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

If our business or any part of it is sold or reorganised, personal data may be transferred as part of that, and this policy will continue to apply to it.

07Sending data abroad

Some of our providers, including HubSpot and Google, are based outside the United Kingdom or store data outside it. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations where they apply, or on the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

You can ask us for more detail on the safeguards that apply to a particular transfer.

08How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as we need it:

  • Enquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact with you, so we can pick up the conversation if you come back to us.
  • Newsletter and marketing contacts: for as long as you remain subscribed, plus a record of your unsubscribe so we do not email you again by mistake.
  • Competition entries: up to 12 months after the closing date, so we can deal with queries and any regulator request.
  • Cookie and analytics data: in line with the retention period of the cookie, which you can see in the cookie banner.

Where we are required to keep records for longer by law, we do. When we no longer need personal data, we delete it or make it anonymous.

09Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct it if it is wrong or incomplete.
  • Delete it, where we no longer have a good reason to keep it.
  • Restrict how we use it while a question about it is resolved.
  • Object to our use of it, including for direct marketing, which we will always stop on request.
  • Transfer it to you or another organisation in a portable format, where it applies.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is what we relied on. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

Email privacy@simonsquibb.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not hand your data to someone else.

To stop the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email. That works immediately and you do not need to contact us.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please tell us so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

10Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal data, including encrypting traffic to our sites, limiting access to the people who need it, and using reputable providers who are contractually required to keep it secure.

No website or email is completely secure, so please do not send us sensitive information, card details or passwords through our forms or by email.

11Children

Our sites and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, and our competitions are open only to entrants aged 18 or over. If you believe a child has given us their personal data, email privacy@simonsquibb.com and we will delete it.

12Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what we do with personal data changes, or when the law does. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you directly where we can.
