About DreamFund
What is DreamFund?
We put 10% of our profits into funding people's dreams. We know how hard it is to start, and how often the only thing missing is a small cheque and someone who believes in you. So that's what we do. You tell us your dream, the community backs the ones they believe in, and we fund them.
How much do you give?
As a rough guide around £5,000 a dream. It's about what it takes to get started, and it's the same for everyone. Some months we fund a few dreams, some months a lot more, depending on how much is in the pot that month.
Where does the money come from?
We pledge 10% of our profits to help dreamers in different ways. DreamFund gets a share of that 10% to fund dreams directly. Right now it's our own money. Over time we'll open it up so other businesses can back dreams too.
Is this a loan?
No. It's a gift. No repayments, no interest, no equity, nothing. You never pay it back. If you do well one day, we'd love you to sign our pledge to give back when you're profitable, so you can help the next dreamer the way you were helped. But that's a choice, not a condition. No pressure.
Who can apply?
Anyone, anywhere. This isn't a UK thing. If you need a kickstart for a dream, an idea or a business, this is for you.
What can I spend it on?
Whatever moves your dream forward. We won't tell you how to spend it, but we will help you think it through, because this is your shot and we don't want you to waste it. Tell us in your application what you need it for. There's no right or wrong answer. Just make the most of it.
Can I apply again if I've already been funded?
No, just one grant per dreamer. We want to back as many different dreamers as we can, so once you've had your turn, the next dream gets its chance.
How do I apply?
Pitch your dream. Tell us what you want to build and what would help. Your pitch goes up on HelpBnk for the community to back.
What if I don't know what to build yet?
That's allowed. We'll point you to content and a community that helps you find your dream. Come back when it clicks. The door stays open.
What if I don't know how to pitch?
Don't worry about being polished. Watch a few other dreamers' pitches for a feel of it, then just be clear about the problem you're solving and the help you need. You never know who's watching, your first customer, a partner, someone who can open a door. Say it simply and say it honestly.
What happens after I apply?
Your dream gets posted on HelpBnk for the community to vote on. This is the bit that matters, so rally your people, tell your story, get them behind you. The dreams with the most support are the ones we fund.
Do I have to be on social media?
Yes. You'll need socials to pitch and to rally support, so we ask for them up front.
Who decides who gets funded?
You don't have to convince a panel. The community votes, and we fund and support the dreams with the most backing. They choose, we make it happen. And funded or not, you're now part of a community of dreamers, with access to the support and tools to get going, and you can always pitch again.
What if I don't get funded?
You've still started. Win or not, you've made a pitch, you've put your dream out in the world, and people will see it. Your first customer might be watching. So might a partner, a mentor or someone who can open a door. The grant is a bonus. Being seen is the real start.
How often do you fund dreams?
Every month. How much goes out depends on what's in the pot that month.
How much are you giving away this month?
We show it live on socials. Whatever's allocated to the fund that month is what's going out to dreamers, no hidden maths.
Do I have to report back or hit targets?
No. The money is unconditional. No milestones, no spending checks, nobody on your back. We would love to stay in touch though, to see how you're getting on, share your journey and let the community cheer you on. That's an invitation, never a requirement.
Do I get any support, or just the money?
Both, if you want it. The money is yours, no strings. On top of that you're invited into something that genuinely helps people get further: a mentor, a monthly session with other funded dreamers, and access to online learning and tools we rate. The dreamers who do best are the ones who build alongside their peers and lean on the community. That's how you succeed. No judgement, take what helps.
Do you take a cut?
No. Every penny reaches a dreamer. We cover the running costs ourselves, nothing is skimmed.
Do you take equity or a share of my profits?
Never. It's a gift, not an investment. We have no claim on anything you build or earn.
